Senior High Class  at St.Peter’s

(Leader: Sue Gunn)  Contact: (716-838-6156)

Senior High Sunday School, Grades 9-12,  meets most Sunday mornings from 10:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. from mid- September through early June.  Following Sunday school, we join our families for Holy Communion and the remainder of the Sunday service.  Classes are held in a church office or our community meeting area depending on the day’s activity.  We have rotating class topics.  This year’s curriculum focuses on issues pertinent to young adults such as what it means to be a Christian today.  We spend time reviewing weekly biblical readings and applying the lessons to our lives. Every other year youths are prepared for confirmation within the Episcopal Church. Youths have the opportunity to serve the church by learning the role of acolytes and chalice bearers.  They may also engage in the music program and have the opportunity to learn to play chimes. Additionally, community outreach is encouraged and a service day was held this past fall.  Our church has a linen pantry that serves the community and is active in refugee and prison ministries led by our Deacon Tom Tripp who welcomes the participation of our young people.  In the past the group has taken pilgrimage trips to Washington DC and mission trips to underserved communities.  Our goal is to teach our students in a varied manner about the Episcopal Church, the Bible and God.  We also strive to facilitate and support an active relationship with God by teaching our students how to pray and to be in a healthy relationship with others.  Our classes are taught by Christians within our community.  We welcome new students to our group and any ideas towards enhancing our program.  If you have questions or comments, please feel free to contact Sue Gunn at 716-838-6156.  We would love to have your young adult join us!
